Abby&Jazzy! We adopted “Nellie” now renamed “Jazzy” on April 13, 2011. She has turned out to be the best family dog we could have hoped for. She loves children, cats, and dogs, but not too sure about the horse. She’s never shown any signs of aggression to anyone or any other animal. Thank you so much for giving us the chance to adopt such a great dog.

Max!Thank you so much for taking such good care of Max. He is such a great dog and soooo smart. He is really sweet and loving. I’m so thankful to have him in my life.

Take care,

Kathy Palumbo

Tanner! Hi Sandy,

'Just wanted to send you a quick update. Tanner is quickly integrating into the household and he and Token have become best buddies. My two cattle dog girls are a little disgusted that there is another young kelpie boy in the house, but they are becoming more accepting. Kate will even play with him. From what I can see Tanner is a perfectly normal kelpie puppy. He's behaved very respectfully and appropriately to the older dogs and has shown no fear or fear aggression in any way. Physically he seems appropriately coordinated for his age, which means that 9-month old kelpies are just all legs and motion and sometimes they don't all go in the same direction. He allows me to handle him with no problems, even his paws. He seems to have a very stable temperament. And he's a complete cuddle bug. We will have to work on his recall, but he has shown pretty good manners so far. I already love him to pieces and am looking forward to seeing how he reacts to livestock.

Thank you so much for making this possible!

Cheers, Michelle

I recently brought Boboo, an Australian Cattle Dog mix, now called "Baker", into my home which included another 2yr. old pound "puppy", Honey. Boboo was listed as a dominant male, but I find Honey rules the roost. Instead, I think Boboo's dominant traits must have just been new acquaintance posturing as he seems very unsocialized and unsure of himself around other dogs, but excellent with people. I still have high hopes that as we all become more comfortable with each other that he will relax and play like a dog with Honey and she will chill her top dog/ornery sibling attitude. Already, they have slipped and I have caught them together, acting like they liked each other!

He is an excellent house guest with the exception that he enjoys the furniture as much as I do. But, he seems very intelligent and is catching on to our house rules quickly. He is very calm and pleasant in the house during the day and night. He follows you everywhere you go, unless he is outside and off-lead, then he likes to act like he doesn't know me, lol. He has not tried any jailbreaks from our fenced yard, though I haven't left him outside unattended for an extended period of time, yet. That makes me immensely happy because I'm sure he could easily clear the 4ft high hog panel fence if he wanted to.

He was a bag o'bones when he arrived and is already putting on some weight. He absolutely devours his food. I've taken to feeding him 3 X day and tossing the kibbles across the kitchen floor to get him to slow down. Any ideas for curing "wolfing" your food down? Slowing him down seems to have helped stop the noxious gases he has frequently shared with us. So does the air freshener I keep beside my desk now!

Just wanted to let you know that things are going well and what a wonderful addition he is to our blended family.

Thanks,
Jill Quinn

Rainy is doing awesome. The neuter cost a bit more, but the testicle was easy to find and they did not have to make a huge incision, which I was happy about. The family that adopted him loves him and I have gotten many great reports in the two weeks since they have gotten him. They have a 5-year old, and I was hesitant about that, but he seems to like her best and is very gentle and sweet with her. She even ran around my place, screaming at our request, and he was totally fine with her. He loves the husband and wife equally which pleases the husband because their other dog is strictly the wife's dog, as she had him before the marriage.

Gracie! Hello!
We adopted Gracie (formerly known as Grandma) almost one year ago and we absolutely love her. Gracie is such a sweet old dog, and wise too. She is very motherly, checking in on everyone and making sure we are all happy. If you're having a bad day, Gracie will stay by your side and snuggle you. In the evenings, Gracie loves to cuddle and as she get sleepy, she snorts three times. She always snorts in threes, makes us laugh every time. Gracie enjoys going on her daily walk, and she loves going camping too. Adopting an old dog like Gracie has been wonderful. She brought a calm energy with her age, and that has helped our other dog tremendously. Gracie is gift, and we are so fortunate to have her living with us. We are thankful that you folks at the Meridian Humane Society found her and took good care of her.
